Performa

On the eve of its 10th anniversary, Performa engaged Anne Bergeron & Co. Consulting to conduct a feasibility and research study to aid the organization in exploring future directions for growth and sustainability. Through its biennial programming, commissioning of new works, and related scholarship, Performa is credited with renewing the art world’s interest in visual art performance and validating its cultural influence and legitimacy.

Acknowledging the increased competition for audiences and funding, Performa sought stakeholder input on critical issues and opportunities to help set the course for its next decade. ABCC led the study—which included a comprehensive review of programmatic, financial, fundraising, and promotional documentation; confidential stakeholder interviews; and data analysis and synthesis—to assess the feasibility of and provide guidance on key activities designed to secure the organization’s future. ABCC’s resulting findings and recommendations report provided the board and staff with pivotal insights supporting continued organizational development.
